Skaters,

More that fifty college students are inline skating from Florida to Maine to raise money for people with autism. They will take a day off in DC on July 29th, and their web site indicates that they are interested in meeting people and getting support along the way.

Quote from their web site: "After months of planning, our route from Florida to Maine is complete. We fullfilled our goal of hitting as many cities and attractions as possible, but more importantly, we also fullfilled our goal of avoiding any hills at all costs. Fifty-Three days on the road and over two thousand miles....What are we thinking!?
Please check out our calendars (click on buttons on left) to see when we'll be in your area. If you're interested in skating or biking a few days, feeding a pack of hungry skaters, advising us while we're in your area, or simply just spending a few hours hanging out at the beach, send us an email at team at rollingforautism.com."

Please reply to me if you want to discuss the possibility of the Washington Area Roadskaters (skatedc.org) engaging to support the Rolling For Autism skaters. One possibility: on our regularly scheduled Sunday Skate on July 29th we could go to the place where the visiting skaters are staying and buy them lunch.

My 19 year old son Billy has autism, and he also is a skater. Although he prefers Wheels Roller Skating Center lately, he has participated in a quite a few WAR skates and even completed a Great Eskate 11 mile route in Miami last February.

  Thanks,

  Bill
